Provides flicker free even lighting for passenger cars (scale or three rail) of 15 5/8” interior length or longer from track voltage. Full brightness typically occurs at 8.5 Volts (AC or DC). This supports operation with conventional or command control. Brightness level is user adjustable. Depending on car, vestibule lighting is supported either directly or with add-on lighting as desired. The both the regular and 80" (up to 84") long car kits come with 6" tail and plug on board to solder into existing wiring. For MTH applications you will reuse the existing double-ended plug per instructions. For 2-rail scale operation is supported! Double-sided tape provide quick installation on the ceiling of the car.-
Strip Lighting Supply This Power Supply is identical to that used in the passenger kits. It is intended for DIY applications using the widely available 12 VDC strip lighting (we sell them too!). The supply supports full range from off to full brightness based on user control using a on-board multi-turn potentiometer. Also provides flicker free operation above 8.5 VAC track voltage at typical brightness. Yes, these are for conventional, DCC, TMCC, DCS, and Legacy applications to provide realistic lighting applications. All boards come with double-sided tape and removable plug for ease in installation! Yes, one of our competitors offers a similar product but with much lower capacitance and coarse brightness control (This means ours has much longer non-flicker time!). The 12 turn pot gives you fine control of brightness. The plug allows you to disconnect from the chassis. Our supply will support a double level lighting of scale length cars (about 20 LED segments) without any problem at conventional voltages (caused we planned it that way!). "Observation Cars" Concerned how to add DIY lighting for "tail-end" cars? Yes, many manufacturers incorrectly call them "Observation" cars. Now we have a new product that comes as a kit with the strip supply and electronics with LEDs for the tail-end portion of these cars. Yep, still gotta' select what you want but the price is almost half the full up version sold elsewhere on our site. Basic board(s) shown below. Additional parts in kit to complete the board to drive markers, top rear light, and/or drumhead. LEDs included too! Did we mention you have to read the instructions to make this work for your application? If you have trouble reading instructions, make it easy on yourself and buy the full made up version. LED Segments may be bought singularly or in 5 meter roll (100 segments). Each segment is approximately 2" long and has solder points at both ends. Most just buy the roll and have enough LEDs for many cars.
Full instructions show solder points for power, lighting and single LED operation with on-board resistor. This supply can easily support up to 20 segments. Additional segments may require the addition of a heat sink sold elsewhere on this site. -

- The Cruise Commander (same foot print as AC Commander) will handle up to 8 Amps motor load and is ideal for large DC can motors and dual motored engines.
- The Cruise Commander has inputs for chuff signals from the engine that will interact with the steam sounds providing synchronous sound/chuff.
- The Cruise Commander Lite will support up to 4 Amps motor load (not currently in production).
- The Cruise Commander M supports an upgrade of four different types of DCDRs that originally provided only 32 step control. Once installed you will have full 100 step control and the ability to turn the Cruise On or Off.
- Steam Chuff is supported directly with the cruise commanders thus obviating the need for a separate switch tied to the sound board.
- These Commanders support electro-couplers, sound sync, head/back lighting, special features, and DC motor drive.
- The cruise feature can be turned off or used to keep the motor speed constant for constant speed up/down grades, etc.
- Full Lash-up control of engines is available.
- Cruise Commander comes with Radio Board (R4LC) latest version.

Complete Blower type Smoke Unit. Operates from track voltage. It may also be controlled by TMCC and external chuff switch such as a cherry or reed switch. When not in full chuff, there will be some smoke emanating from the stack. For diesel operation, the smoke is continuous at the maximum level. This unit Smokes MUCH better than standard Lionel unit and a little less than MTH. Demo here: Smoke Operation Smoke unit can operate from either AC or DC track voltage. Details are provided in the accompanying instructions. Fixed smoke output and fan operation is achieved with about 8.5 VAC (9.5 VDC) input. This allows support in both conventional and command applications. More information at bottom of page! Need to have chuff in sync with ERR Steam Sound board? Works directly with Cruise Commander and the MiniCommander 2 for Smoke and Headlight. Get our Cherry Switch Board to work with the ERR AC Commander. And it will also work with the MiniCommander ACC and/or EX versions! "Internal" Smoke Stack Many of our customers have asked for this item when upgrading/repairing steam engines. This is a two part unit. The bottom attaches to our smoke unit directly. After installing, the top portion screws into the lower through the stack. TAS Smoke Unit Sometimes we have used TAS Smoke units and/or just the electronics. These have been checked to ensure they are operational. -
General Description Engine LED lighting for all types. Can be used in Steam, Electric, and Diesel. The LED kits are great for the headlight, markers and tender backup light. These are Royz Trains products made especially to work with the ERR Commander/Cruise Commander units. However, will also work in conventional mode with constant lighting. All work with either track voltage or direct from any commander board. The boards come with double-sided sticky tape. The input on each board has a capacitive load to ensure proper operation with all ERR Command units. MARs Kits These provide a very realistic looking MARs light via a single 3mm LED and can also drive an additional headlight LED as may be found in a F7 or Daylight engine (and others!). The basic kit requires a well regulated 8 VDC supply (or greater voltage). An optional supply is available to use AC track power or connection to any ERR Command unit. The MARs simulator board is 3/8" square and you may choose to purchase all the components fully assembled and ready for installation including two 3mm warm white focused LEDs. These LEDs do not have a shoulder like most to allow easy insertion into the typical headlight housing. Single LED Kits These kits include a single focused 3mm warm white LED and supporting power supply. May be used in steam, electric or diesel engines. The LED simulates an incandescent lamp with constant brightness at all track voltages above 8 VAC (illumination starts when transformer supplies power). The result is a focused beam that projects on walls and diminishes until the engine makes a curve. Don't get much more real than that!! Dual LED Headlight Kit This kit includes two focused 3mm warm white LEDs, supporting power supply, and connectors. Ideal for those diesels that have dual headlights front or rear. Electric Engines Electric Engines with single lamp housing at either end should use two of the Steam Engine Headlight kits. Dual Red LEDs This kit is used to add rear markers to a tender or passenger car without existing lamps. It include two 2mm red LEDs and supply. If you are looking to replace existing red bulbs and/or you have actual markers on the rear of your tender, you want to choose the Dual Ceramic Red LED kit. Number Board LEDs This kit provides a low level warm white LED to be mounted behind a number board. Typically only diesel engines have the room behind the number board to allow for this addition. Steam Engine Green Markers Two ceramic green LEDs provided to replace earlier red LEDs many manufacturers incorrectly provided. Supply included. -

The sound commander for steam engines directly supports chuff (except turbines) sounds as well as all typical sounds. Recorded voice messages in two formats are selectable. Small size allows easy placement and may be attached to back of radio board on a AC or DC Commander. Includes Speaker and baffle. Alternate speakers available separately. Deigned for use with TMCC Commander but can operate in conventional mode along with 9 vdc battery (connector supplied).. -
Each AC Commander includes the TMCC radio board (R4LC). These units operate in both conventional and command mode. Outputs support control of motor(s), electro-couplers, head/backup lights, and user specified auxiliary item (e.g., cab light, smoke unit, etc.). May support up to 8A motor load. Tach-less operation simplifies installation (no strip on flywheel). All version in stock!! Five versions of the Mini-Commander are available! See additional information provided with specific Option. Setup is via Soft Set technology or Run/Pgm Switch. Each unit is only 1" x 2" footprint allowing easy placement in rolling stock, dummy engine, or track-side accessory. Mini commander has two versions for Accessory (HC version special order) or to support a dummy engine (EX). All four outputs can be set to a voltage output for motor, solenoid, smoke, or light control. There is a Serial signal output, but an additional Serial Buffer is required to drive an ERR Sound kit. Contact us if you have questions. Can also be used to control rolling stock accessories! The Mini Commander 2 has variable DC output for motor control via the TMCC speed control and sync for sound. Currently special order only! Contact me directly with your needs. Background This supply is a rejuvenation of one provided several years ago, but with current components. It is designed to replace the existing battery used to operate the horn and some other limited applications in post-war Lionel applications. Connections: The supply has three wires to connect to the center rail, outside rail, and battery connection on the relay. Details provided in the accompanying instructions. Mounting is via a double-sided tape. This approach supports future removal if necessary. Full instructions with photos provided. But let's be honest, given the opportunity just about anybody can mess things up! Usual installation time is about 15 minutes. If you are already familiar with how the existing battery, relay, and horn work this installation is very straight forward. If all else fails, read the instructions provided! -
This Surge Protector includes a TVS to limit spikes and other spurious signals from damaging newer electronic controls used in steam and diesel engines. One is recommended per transformer connection to the layout. For more background and information see Description below. The item in the picture has been replaced by just the TVS due to rising production costs and is recommended when operating with QSI or any of the command equipped equipment. Instructions provided, of course!
