O Scale Heavyweight Platform Car Lighting These are built upon our regular O Scale passenger car kits, but specifically support the markers, drumhead and/or platform lighting of heavyweight passenger cars. Properly called platform, parlor, or business cars these cars are often incorrectly called observation cars (the marketers are obviously not train people). This kit builds on our standard 15.6" passenger kit. The kit provides full interior length lighting plus may add platform LED (MTH - Yes, others if space is available) and supply for both marker bulbs/LEDs and drumhead bulb (as selected). Brightness level is user adjustable. On board regulation ensures flicker free operation. MTH Premier is accommodated per the instructions. Additional plug provided to connect existing marker lights or adding Tomar scale markers. Some non-MTH tail-end cars may support (or be adapted to support) platform lighting. Our current version of the kits provides lighting for the forward vestibule on 72' scale cars. Both 80' and 84' cars are supported but an added vestibule light is required (order separately on this site or contact us with your application). Note that the "general" item is designed to support 1.5 V marker bulbs. If you have LED driven markers it may burn them out! Feel free to contact us if you are not sure of your application or if you have a custom application. Because of the number of potential configurations, these kits are made to order. We will advise on time to ship (usually one additional day) when your order is received. Typically all items necessary are stocked. This kit is now all on one board with connectors for markers and drumhead with detailed instructions. -

This options allow you to add a warm white LED for each vestibule. Streamline cars typically have only one vestibule. Not recommended for full length vista dome, baggage, or RPO. Two may be added for most Heavyweight cars except the tail-end (aka Observation) and none for baggage and RPO. The kit provides the parts for a D-I-Y installation. The accompanying photos show installation in heavyweight cars but the effect is the same for the streamlined cars. Note that these kits are not needed on 72' scale cars (18" cars) as the standard kit is long enough to light vestibules for most applications. -

The standard passenger LED kit is used to keep costs low. By positioning the standard kit over the vestibule, all three areas (vestibule, room, and baggage) are fully lit! The kit will support applications of all manufacturers with interior length of 15 5/8" up to 21". Kit provides LED Lighting in passenger/mail service areas plus additional LEDs above baggage/service door area. Brightness user defined. Flicker free. The kit is designed to fully illuminate the passenger and RPO (or baggage) area of a car. For MTH applications you will reuse the existing double-ended plug per the instructions. In some applications, you may want to illuminate only the passenger area and leave the RPO/Baggage area dim. This can be accommodated but shortening the board using the instructions. If you are looking for different levels of lighting in the baggage area, for example, then drop us a line or build your own with separate strip lighting supply, segments, and resistors to control different area lighting. -
Kit supports most cabooses with 3-6+” interior length. The LED segments provide light to main area. Kit will also support most American Flyer passenger cars and other short passenger cars (O Gauge). Brightness user defined. Flicker free. Option to add two rear facing red LEDs for rear markers. Or, can add Tomar scale marker lanterns with LEDs and supporting drive. -
This kit supports variable speed and direction of DC motors up to 12 VDC. Originally developed to support turntable operation it has other applications such as bridge motor control, etc.The turntable speed and direction controller was initially designed for the Millhouse Studios Turntables. It is available as hand-held unit. It requires an input voltage of 12-22 VAC for normal operation. This controller will work with any motor driven accessory requiring a voltage range of 1.5 VDC to 12 VDC. The smaller voltage is the stall voltage for the motor drive and provides a very slow bridge movement allowing you to manually stop the bridge as the tracks line up. Other Voltage Ranges are available upon request. This capability is much more affordable than a fully indexed controller and easily allows for visual alignment of the tracks. To date this item has been used on several Millhouse Turntables, a Bowser turntable, bridge controllers and other motor driven applications.

Accessory Controller With different trigger inputs this unit may also control motorized accessories, bulb driven signals, or LED driven signals/lighting. Trigger inputs can come from photo electric devices, isolated track, AC or DC signals. Details of connections are provided in the instruction manual. Additional applications are found here. Z-2500 Switch Machine Control, Accessory Control and Signal Driver The basic PCB control board has many inherent applications. These have been used with both the Z-2500 & Z-1000 switch machines, external controls inputs and to drive various signals. Z-2500 Control This PCB controller mounts below the control panel or train table to support many applications including operating signal lights, automated accessories, and LED indicators and will interface directly with the Z-Stuff 2500 switch machine. Further with the addition of a switch and two LEDs can provide panel indicator/control for Z-2500. External trigger can operate relay & Tomar dwarf signals based on AC/DC signal. Extensive capabilities and examples provided in the instruction manual. The more extensive kit supports up to three sets of LED indicators with the on board supply. Buy the complete kit with controller, two Dwarf signals and control panel items. Switch Point Power Protection Using a variation of the accessory controller the switch points of single or double switch may be selectively powered when actuated by the DZ-2500 position along with two dwarf signals. Supports longer #6 & #8 switches, double slip switches, and double crossover switches. This version has a 0.5A supply to drive the additional relays. The double crossover kit is special order and supports either through or crossover control and switch point power along with Tomar Dwarf signals. New Design provides screw terminal connection and improved PCB design. This is a simplified version of the accessory controller above and a reliable replacement for the Z-2502. It includes momentary contact switch and two LEDs mounted on a PCB controller. It is mounted below the control panel. Select right hand or left hand switch operation. Simple template provided to drill the three holes in control panel. -
Newest Add is a dual 10A board with plug that operates with 5VDC signal and may be used with our Accessory Controllers. In addition we have a selection of relays support different configurations able to control up to 15 Amp current with a 12 VDC low level signal. Detailed instructions provide example applications. Supporting 12 VDC supplies are sold separately. Each of the two possible power relays have onboard LED indicators showing when the relay has been energized. Typical application is to control signal lights along with power to a track section from a remote location. The low level current necessary to control the relay(s) is thus handled using much less expensive, smaller gauge layout wire and miniature toggle switches. Also offered are occupancy detection/signal presentation, three power relays, etc. -
This Surge Protector includes a TVS to limit spikes and other spurious signals from damaging newer electronic controls used in steam and diesel engines. One is recommended per transformer connection to the layout. For more background and information see Description below. The item in the picture has been replaced by just the TVS due to rising production costs and is recommended when operating with QSI or any of the command equipped equipment. Instructions provided, of course! -
